The Steelworker

HI, my name is Bill and I honestly don’t come in the room as much as I used to and I have a very good reason. When AOL decided to bump the room from 23 to 36 people it was the beginning of the end for me. With 23 in the room , it was much cozier for me.

As for all the “pissing” contests in the room back then I always thought most of them were quite comical. Chat rooms are so impersonal. Anyone who has met me face to face knows I am a kidder. You can say anything you want about me. i simply don’t care. I have bigger fish to fry. I do understand that not everyone is like me and some take things way too personally. I have had conversations in the past where somebody starts ribbing me and I take it as a joke. Because you can’t see in a chat room how someone is accepting what you say. If you can dish it out you better be able to take it too. That’s how I feel a lot of misunderstandings happen in the first place.

I frequent TIM’s Thursday night room for the simple fact that 90% of the people in there I have met face to face over the years. I don’t have to worry so much about hurting anybody’s feelings in there and anyone who has met me would attest to the fact that I am not about that. We may say things that to an outsider might look testy, but in reality we are just goofing around.

A few of the oldies room members told me out at ROC’s BBQ that the room has changed for the better recently and the last few times I ventured in, I had a good experience also. I do think that it is an impossibility to get the room back to what it was 4 or 5 years ago. The novelty has worn off and would the last one out please turn off the lights.

I am very thankful for all the friends I have made over the years going to STEVE’s and TOM’s parties. Meeting all the wonderful people from all over the world is what keeps me
coming back. At this point that is all that matters to me.
