My name is Charlie and I was born and bred in Boston, and now live in a suburb. I discovered Music Oldies in 1999. I am 59 years old just like GOHAWKSGO, LOL and grew up listening to the great music of that time and sneaking into Boston Celtic games when we had a dynasty going (Take that Michael) LOL. I attended NU, got a job at the Bank Of Boston , married an amazing girl who is know an amazing woman , have 2 great kids and got laid off twice and am now working a part-time job to get my daughter through NU also.
My favorite music would be Teen Idol Rock and Roll, Nelson, Cannon, Elvis, Roe, Maestro, Doo-Wops, Drifters, Coasters, Balladeers and the Platters. Have never yet attended a Chatroom party but always wanted to. Maybe someday. I consider myself a charter member of the Oldies Room. I was on almost every night till November 2000. I intend to come back as a full-timer again once I retire and my girls are through with school.
My fondest memories are when we would all type a song and then start singing It. I was always amazed at some of the knowledge some roomies had about the music from that era. I also kinda chuckled at the typos which sometimes were freudian slips. LOL. I used to purchase CD’s with obscure songs just to see if I could stump the roomies. In fact I considered It my duty to ask the names of certain artists just so certain chatters could talk and enjoy displaying their deep knowledge of our great music.
What memories I have of roomies like JUDI, SAXDY, BOPPERJIM, RECORDLOVER, T2SHADOW, MEJANBABE, SOICIETEES CHILD, MOBIL, SMOKER, SUZANROSE, BLUEYES, CCR, TOOLBOXKITTEN, AIDY, GROOVY, RED, OLDIES, JAZZ, PUFFMJKDRGN, DUKE, SUITEJUDY and SUPERBIRD66BBL… and more. I just know I missed some named here.
I just want to say that this Is a tremendous room. It doesn’t cost much and it is a place we can go for great kinship and therapy for all boomers. It is very cathartic to come in here, share musical trivia and spout off a bit about our carefree days of youth and our musical memories.
