I have been on AOL now about 5 years and I just stumbled into this one. I was amazed at the depth of knowledge some people had about oldies. That really brought back some old memories to me and I was hooked. My name is John and I live in La Mesa, California, which is a suburb of San Diego. I am married 36 years with one adult son. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and have been owner of various businesses through the years. I semi-retired in 1992 and fully retired in 2000. My wife Cathie is also retired.
I enjoy music from the 40s 50s and 60s Including classic country, big band, doo-wop, popular and rock n roll. I can’t name a top ten list, It would have to be a top 500 list.
I have been to the last 3 ROCN60s BBQs and I remember driving to the first and thinking should I even be doing this? I was worried about how weird these people were going to be. Well It turned out that these people were completely normal although a few maybe stretched that boundary a little, and they couldn’t have been nicer.
I come into there Chatroom In spurts, maybe 2 or 3 times a week. I love it when the top trivia players are in there and the room is moving so fast. There have been so many outstanding moments in the room but I love it when the room is going break-neck speed and I love it’ when somebody mentions a really great song that I have forgotten for about 40 years–what memories a song can bring I really look forward to ROC’s party every year. The changing of names for there Holidays really drive me nuts as my confusing for my old brain however I do think the names are very clever.
Going forward i think we should stick to the basics and try not to disrespect anybody In the room.
